New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music, debuts on December 17th, 2011 and will be open to the public through February 4th, 2012. Hargray is sponsoring the exhibit, which focuses on the history of purely American music forms such as blues, country western, gospel, jazz, bluegrass, rock n’ roll, rap, hip-hop and folk ballads. Visitors will listen to samples of various musical genres and will learn about the history of music in America, discovering along the way about the stories behind favorite songs, the roles of religion and technology in shaping the American music scene, and the interaction between ethnic groups whose diverse ancestral rhythms lended themselves to the melting pot of American music. “Hargray is excited to play a part in bringing this important cultural exhibit to the Lowcountry,” commented Eddie Andrews, Director of Marketing for Hargray. “Many of the musical forms featured in this exhibit have deep roots in the South and in the Lowcountry itself, and learning about our shared musical heritage is an important part of understanding the Lowcountry’s rich history.” About Hargray Communications Headquartered in Hilton Head Island, S.C., Hargray is a state-of-the-art telecommunications and related services company for both residential and business customers.
