--Upgrade ensures faster Internet speeds--

Pooler, G.A., January 31, 2012 – Hargray announced today a major network upgrade that allows Pooler residents to subscribe to faster Internet speeds while reducing network congestion. The upgrade consists of hardware and software improvements including the installation of new Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) software.

The newest version of DOCSIS (3.0) is good news for Pooler residents looking for faster, more reliable Internet connections. Hargray will offer up to 20 Mbps Internet connections to residential customers, with 30 Mpbs available to businesses. Businesses will have other options including Hargray’s Advanced High Speed Internet featuring a range of download speeds and upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

This network enhancement is a milestone for the Lowcountry-based telecommunications company. The upgrade to DOCSIS 3.0 marks the completion of a series of upgrade initiatives that began in 2009, enabling Hargray to  deliver these exceptionally fast Internet speeds to virtually every corner of their service territory.
