Michael Gottdenker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Michael Gottdenker joined Hargray in 2007 as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gottdenker is actively involved in formulating Hargray’s strategic direction and oversees all of its operating activities. Prior to joining Hargray, Mr. Gottdenker served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Access Spectrum, LLC; as President and Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, Inc.; in a variety of executive positions at Revlon Consumer Products Corporation; and as an investment banker in the Corporate Finance and Real Estate Finance departments of Salomon Brothers Inc.
Mr. Gottdenker is active in a number of philanthropic and professional organizations. He serves as a Trustee, on the Executive Committee, and as Chair of the Endowment Committee of Wilkes University; as a member of the Board of Georgetown Day School; and on the Executive Committee of the Washington DC Chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization.
Mr. Gottdenker received a BA degree in Economics and Computer Science from Columbia University.

Paul Sunu, Chief Financial Officer
Paul Sunu most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for Hawaiian Telcom, the 11th largest telephone company in the United States. He has developed or started numerous companies including Madison River Communications, a company he co-founded, and served on the board, and as its Chief Financial Officer for 11 years before its sale to CenturyLink.
Mr. Sunu serves on the boards of Integra Telecom, an integrated communications provider operating in 11 western states and Merscom, a global publisher of mass market computer and video games. He served on the board Centennial Communications (NASDQ: CYCL), a regional wireless and integrated communications company in the United States and Puerto Rico, until its merger with AT&T.
Mr. Sunu has over 27 years of experience in multiple industries including telecommunications, real estate, personal finance and tax planning, and organizational development. He has also served as adjunct professor of business at Elon University.
Chris McCorkendale, Vice President and General Manager, Business & Operations
Chris McCorkendale currently serves as Vice President and General Manager of Business and Operations for Hargray. In this role, he is responsible for activities related to the company's sales, operations, network engineering, repair service and community relations. Prior to joining Hargray, Mr. McCorkendale was the area General Manager and Vice President of Field Operations for Frontier Communications in Nebraska and Iowa. In this role, he was responsible for overall company operations in the states of Nebraska and Iowa.
Before Frontier, Mr. McCorkendale was Vice President of Operations Strategy and Development for Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, Inc. in Pennsylvania. In this position, he directed business development, strategy, and operational improvement initiatives for the company. He also managed merger-related activities associated with Frontier's March 2007 acquisition of CTE. In addition to other roles with this company, Mr. McCorkendale served as Regional Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Prior to entering the communications industry, Mr. McCorkendale served as an officer in the U.S. Army. He continues to serve as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve and the United States Selective Service System.
Mr. McCorkendale holds an M.B.A. from Troy State University and a BA degree in Economics from Missouri State University.
Andrew J. Rein, Vice President and General Manager, Residential & Advertising
Andrew Rein and his family moved to the Hilton Head area in September of 2007. He currently serves as Vice President and General Manager of Residential Services and Advertising for Hargray. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s residential and advertising sales, marketing, customer service and community relations activities.
Prior to assuming this position at Hargray, Mr. Rein temporarily served as Vice President of Finance while Hargray recruited its Chief Financial Officer, Paul Sunu, who joined Hargray in July of 2008.
Before joining Hargray, Mr. Rein was Director, Strategy & Operations for Access Spectrum, LLC in Bethesda, MD. Access Spectrum owns and develops licensed wireless spectrum in the 700 MHz and 220 MHz bands. During his seven years at Access Spectrum, Mr. Rein directed business development, strategy and operational activities, and was instrumental in the company’s successful effort to repurpose its spectrum for 4G commercial broadband networks.
Before joining Access Spectrum, Mr. Rein was an analyst at Dean & Company, a Washington DC-based telecommunications strategy consulting firm.
Mr. Rein holds a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University where he graduated summa cum laude with Honors in 2000.
David Armistead, General Counsel and Secretary
David Armistead has over 12 years experience working with telecommunications and other utility companies. Mr. Armistead joined Hargray in 2007 and currently serves as the company's General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In his current position, he is responsible for the company's legal, regulatory, legislative, human resources, corporate development and real property functions.
Mr. Armistead joined Hargray from CT Communications, Inc., a publicly traded telecommunications and broadband provider, where he held the position of General Counsel and Corporate Secretary until that company's sale to Windstream Corporation in 2007.
Prior to CT Communications, Mr. Armistead was a partner in the law firm of Troutman Sanders, LLP. With Troutman Sanders, he concentrated his practice on representing telecommunications and utility companies on corporate, regulatory and legislative matters.
Mr. Armistead received a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1993. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 1996, where he graduated first in his class and served as Editor in Chief of the Georgia Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Armistead clerked for then Chief Judge Boyce F. Martin on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
