What are LIFELINE and LINK-UP?

LIFELINE and LINK-UP are federal programs offering telephone discounts to low-income consumers in all U.S. states and territories. The LIFELINE assistance program provides a credit of $13.50 on a monthly residential telephone bill. LINK-UP provides a 50 percent reduction of the installation and service charges (up to $30) to qualifying residential customers.

Who Qualifies?

These programs are for qualifying consumers in every U.S. state, territory and commonwealth. Eligibility varies by state. You may qualify for LIFELINE and LINK-UP if you receive one of the following:

  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
